Ann, I just saw your message... Pinot Noir is a great pairing with turkey as it's a light red. Depending on your budget (and the fact you're in CA helps) my favorite producer/wine is David Bruce - he does an amazing job with PN. I should think he'd be in the $20-40 range, depending on the PN. You could also try Lolita (French), Hayman & Hill or Albran (Frenh) or Hob Nob - all more mid-range prices but delicious as well. Beaujolais Nouveaus are also a thanksgiving favorite for many, though not me personally. And for whites, stick to Dry Reislings and Gewurtztraminers or a more tropical style Sauvignon Blanc whish are pretty typical from the Santa Barbara region or if you can find it Rayun from Chile.
