Not that anyone should care, but, I have a tremendous craving for clam chowder...right now! It's only 9 am as I write this which may seem a bit early in the day to be craving such a meal, but I often eat breakfast for dinner, so I'll just go with it.
When I say clam chowder, I mean the good stuff. The kind that usually comes accompanied by the sound and smell of fishing boats, and within sight of a pier.
I am fortunate to have eaten at some of the best on both coasts. Sadly I am not anywhere near either one at the moment, but a quick hit on each of their websites confirmed my suspicions that they both ship their chowder. I'm thinking that if a restaurant actually FedEx's their food then they must be doing something right.
Here are my top two chowder restaurants.

1. Mo's (Newport, Oregon) The chowder at Mo's is really that good! You must drive the Oregon coast and stop in at regionally, and some say world famous Mo's, you will not be disappointed. The Oregon coast is truly breathtaking in it's rugged beauty, and Newport is a must see. www.moschowder.com |

2. Cape Pier Chowder House - Cape Porpoise Lobster Co. (Kennebunkport, Maine) They may be better known for their lobster, but the clam chowder is heavenly. Kennebunkport, Maine is one of the friendliest towns I've ever stayed in. Spend a few nights in one of the many bed & breakfast hotels and soak in the local charm...and food. www.capeporpoiselobster.com |
